Star Tree

SSINK is focusing on Perfect White Accents and Enamel Dots.

You'll be asking where are they on your project?

I'll be showing you soon.

First I want to try to explain how I came up with it first.

Do you see the 3D stars in the above photo?

They are on page 22 of the 2015 - 2016 Holiday Catalog.

Ok so I was making these with a few of my down line team members and the light bulb went off!

How about not adding the other side of the star and leave it a four pointed star but stack smaller sizes on top to make a tree.

So I needed to try it to see if it was worth posting.

Guess what!

It worked! Yippee!!!

So my base star is from the largest card stock we can get 12" x 12". The stars then are 1" smaller as they are stacked. So looking at the tree the dimensions of the card stock sizes I used for the stars will be the following:

3" x 3"
4" x 4"
5" x 5"
6" x 6"
7" x 7"
8" x 8"
9" x 9"
10" x 10"
11" x 11"
12" x 12"

You are now asking why didn't you make a 2" x 2" and 1" x 1".

I had the pieces cut out but after all the folding and gluing the stars together. I didn't think those sizes would even look like a star. So I didn't bother to attempt it. I'll use those pieces for another project in the future.

So onto my Star Christmas tree. Let me warn you now that I used hot glue mostly to keep the stars stacked on top of each other and also for the Red Pompom ribbon trim so it wouldn't slide off the branches.

What do you add to the top of a star tree? Another star?

I chose to use a festive top hat with holly and berries.

I'm getting there but yes still no mention of the Perfect White Accents or Enamel Dots.

Ready to see the project?

Here is the back side.

And another side.

Close up of the hat adorned on top of the tree.

I know you are curious about how I made the hat.

I punched a 2" circle (for the top) and a piece of card stock 3" x 8 1/2" (for the hat).

I have scored 1/2" on each side of the 8 1/2" side and cut about every 1/4" to the score line to create tabs.

This was done to help attach the hat to the brim and top.

I added adhesive on each of the tabs and kept the hat section in a circular to make sure the pieces created the hat.

The 2 1/2" circle punch as the brim.

Ah here is a picture of some of the Perfect White Accents.

I stamped and layered the ornaments.

The center of the bells have the Perfect White Accents.

Here is another ornament.

And some more. This one I layered a faceted button with a metal rimmed pearl on top of a wooden snowflake that is attached to a silver foil doily.

How about that small lolly with the iced rhinestone in the center.

Those measure 1/2" x 6" and are very interesting to score, mountain and valley fold and adhere together.

All different shapes and sizes.

Another ornament.

I used the theme from Global Design Project (#GDP011).

Leave a comment to let me know what you think of my idea.

Thank you for stopping by today.

I invite you back tomorrow to see another handmade holiday item.

    1. Thank you Jess! Yes I kept making the stars with my downline and it just hit me (the idea not the star) that maybe it was possible to make it into a tree.
