Happy Veterans Day

Happy  Veterans Day!

We remember all who served, serving and their families and all the sacrifices you have made for our freedom.

SSINK is showing our appreciation for all veterans today.

We thank you all for your service!

Ready for my tribute card to all the service men and women?

I know that you are asking, "How'd she do that?"
Tell us or show us how you were able to get both the stars and stripes embossed in the background.

Let me take you step by step.

I've pictured the process with different card stock because I was teaching the technique to a few friends at a craft retreat I was at over this past weekend.

First of all my card stock is measured at 4 1/8" x 5 3/8".

I angled my stars to be only in one corner. (see picture below)

Only running the embossing folder and card stock through until the section I want embossed.
I am not sending the entire piece of card stock through since it's on an angle.

Now that my stars are embossed now onto the stripes.
Again I angled the card stock to make sure I can get straight lines.
Notice the two corners on the top right and bottom left? (picture below)
These corners will be sent through the Big Shot.
Yes I know they will get mangled but believe me it's okay.

Here is the final picture of the embossing notice the right hand side corners are not embossed.
We want them that way so we can curl and sponge them.
So now it looks like a flag.
See it?

Do you know how to Camouflage color?
I didn't think I did either until it happened.
Now you are going to think I did this on purpose but I didn't.
I'm not even sure how I'd accomplish the look without it being blotchy looking.
But here is how I colored "Camo Style".  At least that's what I'm calling it.

Grab some Whisper White card stock.
Stamp your image in Black Archival Ink.
Take your aqua painter and another color ink.  I chose Tip Top Taupe ink.
I generally squeeze the ink pad (while closed) so that some ink is left in the top. Then swipe the aqua painter along to grab some ink.
Now color your image.
As the water and ink dry the color changes.
Color over the image until you reached the desired color/hue or until you like what it looks like.

Viola!

Now you know how to "Camo color"!

You're welcome! ;)

I used the color combination from Sunday Stamps (#SSC113).

I used the layout from CAS(E) this Sketch! (#CTS148).

Thank you for stopping by today.

Be sure to check back tomorrow for a fun blog hop.
